Important information for non-German students

In recent years the “Trifels-Gymnasium” in Annweiler has been delighted with the interest shown by young people and their families from abroad in both the school itself and our boarding facilities.
We have already been able to gain experience in welcoming and supporting foreign students who have the necessary ability as well as the high level of determination required to achieve a German school-leaving certificate.

Conditions of acceptance
- successful completion of a Junior High School or a corresponding school
- a basic working knowledge of German
- a valid German residence permit, which in its turn requires proof of health   insurance

In addition to meals, accommodation and co-educational schooling with native German speakers, our boarding school offers tuition in German as a foreign language and, if necessary, private lessons in almost all subjects.

In our experience, foreign students who wish to attend a German Grammar School / High School with the aim of graduating for university require continued and close support in Germany. It is essential that they have a contact person who knows them well, who accompanies them in their search for a suitable school and who is able to discuss and deal with questions regarding organisation, finance and legal residence.

As a Church institution, we attach particular importance to looking after the young people entrusted to our care.
In the course of becoming accustomed to a foreign culture and its school tradition, students from abroad must expect to encounter initial disappointments and setbacks, possibly to overcome personal crises. The support of a guardian in Germany who can also offer accommodation during vacations and periods of illness is essential.
